Open it up, hurry! Please don’t rush me, Harry. I will get to it in my own time. Hannah bit down on the left side of her lower lips and took a deep breath. Harry was Hannah’s only brother, and she was his only sister. Oh, okay. Let’s see what is in the envelope, give it to me. Hannah took the envelope and opened it. It was a reply to her acceptance to seminary school. She tore the letter opened impatiently and took out the information. Her eyes glanced down, and she begins reading. Harry was anxiously anticipating her finishing the letter. His eyes were fixed on her as he watched her with his hand on his mouth. Hannah looked up and said, “I have been accepted into the doctorate program. Oh, my God!! I have been accepted into the most prestigious seminary in the Nation! Harry, I made it!” They began to jump up and down, holding each other’s hands.
Hannah had known that she was called to teach and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ since she was a teenager. She accepted Christ into her heart at the age of five. Her dad was the manager of the local refrigeration factory. He also was a pastor to a small congregation of hundred in their town and, her mother was a nurse. Hannah and her brother grew up knowing first hand what it meant to serve God’s people as preacher’s kids. As she and her brother always joked with one another, they were the first to arrive at church. And they were the last ones to leave. Hannah loved her dad and strived to be like him in her faith.
She finished high school and went off to college. And after six years, she had finished college and earned a master’s degree in information technology. Hannah was the IT director of a prominent company. She loved her career and the people she worked with. However, Hannah felt that there was something more to life and felt empty. One night while talking with her dad on the phone, she expressed to her dad her feelings. He directed her to pray and seek God for directions, and he would be praying with her as well.
Hannah went on with life as usual and started reading her Bible more and praying to God. One night she had a dream. In the dream, Hannah heard a voice instructing her to first seek Him, and all things would be added to her. And in the night dream, she was standing in a church pulpit teaching from a Bible dressed in a pastor’s robe. Lastly, the voice instructed her to feed His sheep. When she woke up from the dream, she meditated on the words and knew what she must do.
Harry had moved in with Hannah for a couple of months. He had just accepted a new job offer and lived with her until he got on his feet. It was Christmas Day, and Harry had already prepared virtual dinner places for their mom and dad. She was excited to tell them the good news about her acceptance to seminary. She was called into the ministry to become a pastor.
Dinner was on the table, and the virtual dinner with Hannah and Harry’s parents were made. Merry Christmas, mama. Merry Christmas, daddy, said, Hannah and Harry. Merry Christmas, Hannah. Merry Christmas, Harry. Your table and dinner look beautiful. While eating dinner, Hannah spoke to her parents by saying, “Mom, Dad, I have something to tell you, and it is good news. I am making a career change and giving up my career as IT director of my company. Dad, Mom, God called me to pastor His sheep, and I will become a pastor. I have been accepted into seminary college in the doctorate program.” Oh, Hannah, God is good and praised! This is the best Christmas news and presents we would have ever received, said Hannah’s dad and mom. Hannah, Harry, and their parents talked for hours by FaceTime about God’s goodness and their love and appreciation for one another. Though they were miles away and could not be near each other, the true meaning of Christmas rang out clearly as they sang Christmas songs together and shared stories of past Christmases. Harry smiled at his sister and said, Hannah, you are the best sister ever. I am so glad we are together this Christmas. Merry Christmas.
I pray you enjoyed the story of Hannah and her brother, Harry. Let us all celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in our homes and hearts, may God be with you. I pray God's blessings and prosperity upon you all. Merry Christmas And Happy New Year, Everyone!
Please make time to read Luke 2: 1-21
